SOMOSAGUAS

In 2007 we designed this single-family house in collaboration with Métrica Tip. Located in Pozuelo de Alarcón, in the Somosaguas area (Madrid). Its design arose from the placement of an already existing swimming pool, and occupying the footprint of a very deteriorated old house that was demolished. The sensuality of the material is achieved by using reissued vernacular materials: stone, wood and white render define the entire outer shell and play with contemporary forms. The ground-floor openings, which run from floor to ceiling, and the continuous gallery, allow one to live alongside the landscape and enjoy the best orientations and natural light.

The exterior of the house is clad mainly with three main materials: natural stone walls and wood for the base, and white single-coat render for the first floor. The color of the stone resembles the color of the ground-floor window frames, forming a continuous base, very open toward the southeast (pool and garden) and very closed toward the northwest (service zone). The ground floor, so glazed and open, seems to have no limits, resulting in an open, flowing interior space where nature slips in without asking permission.

El exterior de la casa se reviste básicamente con tres materiales principales: muros de piedra natural y madera para el basamento y revestimiento monocapa blanco para la planta primera.

El color de la piedra se asemeja al color de las carpinterías de planta baja, conformando un basamento continuo, muy abierto hacia el sureste (piscina y jardín) y muy cerrado hacia el noroeste (zona de servicios).

La planta baja, tan acristalada y diáfana, parece no tener límites, dando como resultado un espacio interior abierto y fluido, donde la naturaleza se cuela sin pedir permiso.
