In a Valencian neighborhood that was once a small Arab hamlet, and which today has become the city's hipster epicenter—although, unlike Malasaña or Gràcia, it still gives off a neighborhood feel—we found a 1950s building where we were tasked with reinventing a standard 80 m² unit. It is the typical flat between party walls, open toward the street and toward the block's inner courtyard, no more than 7 meters wide and very deep.

The project was born out of the introduction of a multifunctional unit that runs along almost the full depth of the flat and transforms the interior of this apartment into a dynamic space with greater performance. Made up of lacquered wooden panels and integrated furniture, its components were manufactured in La Rioja and assembled in the house.

From a design standpoint, a continuous plane of white doors (behind which structural columns and beams are hidden) is interrupted by a protruding mint-green box that houses kitchen furniture (fridge, oven, microwave, pantry drawers) and a niche of the same color, which “widens” and “shortens” the corridor. Its capacity provides several storage zones, serving the different settings it accompanies along its route: entrance hall, kitchen, dining room, bathrooms and children's room.

Functionally, a large day space opens onto the bustle of the street, while the two bedrooms face the great inner courtyard of the block, where the rising sun offers us the chance to do without an alarm clock.

Su capacidad permite disponer de varias zonas de almacenamiento, sirviendo a los distintos ambientes que acompaña en su recorrido: recibidor, cocina, comedor, baños, y habitación infantil.

Funcionalmente, un gran espacio de día se abre al bullicio de la calle, mientras que los dos dormitorios se orientan hacia el gran pulmón de manzana, donde el sol naciente nos ofrece la posibilidad de prescindir del despertador.
